Diwan Khande Rao Banaji the Tragic Hero.
Diwan Khande Rao Banaji his earlier life was not in detail he started as a Bureaucrat in Mysore Kingdom. In the meantime another Upstart soldier Haider joined the Mysorean Army.
Initially both were in friendly terms and were raising through the ranks. It was during the weak regime of Krishnaraja Wodeyar -II.
The Durbar was under the dominance of Devarajaiah and later Nanjarajaiah. Thus the Rani was skeptic about the court Intrigue also Haider Ali ‘s raise within Army and loss of Krishnaraja Wodeyar-II’s power.
Thus Khande Rao Banaji joined Queen Mother and stood against Haider Ali. He defeated Haider Ali and forced him to retreat.
Thus Haider Ali Played a master strategy of allying with former Dalawai Nanjarajaiah and sent forged letters thus creating a disarray amongst the forces of Khande Rao Banaji.
Haider took over the leaderless army and began hunt for Khande Rao Banaji once arrested him the Queen Mother asked Haider Ali to Spare him. It’s said that Haider Ali kept him alive in a Cage thus he passed away in prison.
Here Mysore if listened to Khande Rao Banaji and Nanjarajaiah didn’t supported Haider Ali it would have been a bit different from what we experienced today.
