Bengal Update: Brave effort by children to celebrate Saraswati Puja outside closed school premises stopped by police. Deity seized.

Day after the West Bengal police threw stones at little innocent school children, who were demanding celebration of Saraswati Puja in Tehatta High School in Uluberia, Howrah, and brutally beat them with batons, the police atrocities in the area have continued unabated. According to activists, yesterday’s event was to please the Islamists.

To please the Islamists further, in night long efforts, 14 Hindus youths, have been detained in the area and even women have not been spared. Despite continuous police atrocities, a brave effort by students today to organize a Saraswati Puja outside the school was stopped by the police. On not being able to enter the school premises, these brave children had set up the Saraswati Deity outside the main road adjacent to the High School. The police came and confiscated the Deity. They even threatened the students with dire consequences.

Hindus in the area are still awaiting BJP President Dilip Ghosh’s assertion of celebrating Saraswati Puja in the high school to be realized. No such efforts are visible yet. The Tehatta High school is shut. In this area having just 10% Hindu population, Hindu children have no other choice but to shed tears on Saraswati Puja Day. The fate of 2000 students is uncertain. The principal of the school has resigned under Islamist pressure. Saraswati Puja seems on the way to be banned in Bengal soon.
