Tribute to Bhagat Singh.
Bhagat Singh was born in Village of Banga at Lyallpur District in then Punjab. His father Kishan Singh was an Independence activist along with his uncle Ajit Singh.
He had his initial schooling in Banga later joined Dayanand Anglo Vedic school in Lahore. Later Joined National College as started by Lala Lajpat Rai. Here he used his writing as an instrument to bring awareness against British colonization and exploitation. Thus British police arrested him. Later released on Bail bond of 60000.
He wrote articles with different names Balwant,Ranjit and Vidrohi in one such article he praised Veer Savarkar for his action against the British.
In 1928 there was agitation on against Simon commission. Thus with Lala Lajpat Rai leading the movement got hit by baton of British Police and got succumbed to Injury.
Thus HSRA planned for action by which with mistaken Identity ASP John P Saunders was assassinated by Bhagat Singh, Shivram Rajguru and Chandrashekhar Azad. Later they escaped from Lahore in Disguise and reached Kolkata.
Bhagat Singh in the meantime used theatre as a medium to spread message.
They planned an attack on Central Assembly against Public Security Bill and Trade Disputes act that was passed by Viceroy. Thus he along with Batukeshwar Dutt bombed the assembly and surrendered to police. Here both were exiled to Andaman as punishment.
Later with many informants help the HSRA hideouts were raided by Police and arrested Sukdev, Rajguru and many HSRA Members. Thus Bhagat Singh was transferred to Lahore Jail for trial.
Thus trial on Saunders murder and other cases took place. Here in prison Bhagat Singh and his fellow HSRA members took hunger strike for 116 days for the improvement in Prison food and conditions of prisoners. Finally British gave them concession in Jail.In the mean time death of Chandra Shekhar Azad and other issues made the rescue attempt impossible.
Here British court tried them on cases and later tried with special tribunal thus declaring Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru as Guilty and to be sent to Gallows.
Here appeal was sent to Privy Council that refused and later Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya wrote Mercy petition for Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru but it was rejected.
Thus on 23rd March 1931 11 hours before the decided date of 24 March all three were sent to Gallows by British.
He was an atheist by belief and wrote Why I am an Atheist??
Thus let’s remember a great writer and a freedom fighter on his birth Anniversary.
