Tribute to Shri Aurobindo on his birth Anniversary. Sri Aurobindo aka Aurobindo Ghosh was born in Kolkata in 1872 to Krishnadhan Ghose then civil surgeon and Swarnalata Devi he had 2 elder brother one younger brother and a sister.
His father wanted to give the best of English education thus he sent him and his elder brothers to Lorento Convent in Darjeeling and later his father wanted his sons to Join Civil service so he sent them to study in England.
Where by Aurobindo got qualified for ICS exam and started his training in King’s College Cambridge. Due to his lack of interest he disqualified himself from joining civil service by arriving late to the horse riding test.
Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaekwad III of Baroda accepted him into his state’s service. Where he served in Revenue and survey department later taught at Baroda college where Shri K M Munshi ji was his student. During this time he learnt Sanskrit and Bengali.
Later he resigned from Baroda services and moved to Kolkata in 1906. He got connected with Lokmanya Tilak and Sister Nivedita. Thus began his role as a freedom fighter.In 1901 he married Mrinalini who died of influenza in 1918. He was supporter of Lokmanya Tilak and edited weekly news paper Vande Mataram.
Thus in 1908 he was arrested for Alipore Conspiracy case but released due to lack of evidence. He helped in formation of Anushilan Samiti. In 1910 because of his letter in Karmayogin magazine he had warrant thus he moved to Chandanagore the French enclave and Moved to Pondicherry.
During his prison time he became more spiritual and thus moved to Pondicherry and established a place to discuss Spirituality after 4 years of meditation. Thus began his Magazine Arya.
Mirra Alfassa aka Mother Mira joined him as his spiritual collaborator thus an Ashram was established in 1926. He opposed Partition during the Independence. His philosophy was based on Brahman and super mind.He attributed his philosophical thoughts to his reading of Bhagvad Gita and Upanishads.
Sri Aurobindo wrote Savitri:A legend and a symbol to explain about the various subjects and philosophy.
Thus let’s remember the Intellectual, Teacher and Philosopher on his Birth Anniversary.
