Tribute to former Finance Minister of hashtag#india Arun Jaitley on his birth Anniversary.
He was born in 28 December 1952 in Delhi and had his schoolings and college studies there.
During his college days he was Part of ABVP thus president of Delhi University Student Union. He was arrested during Emergency and was jailed for 19 months. Later became president of Youth Wing in BJP for a Short term.
Later as an active member of BJP also as lawyer he attended many high profile cases till 2009. Later he left law practice to focus on Politics.
During his tenure as minister from 1999-2004 He was minister of Information and Broadcasting. He was first of Disinvestment Minister who literally initiated the removal of many white elephants from Public sectors for which he laid the framework. He later became minister of law and justice.
Later as leader of Opposition in Rajyasabha he took debates and addressed issues.
In 2014-19 he was part of then Government’s finance ministry and corporate affairs. His tenure marked with Big ticket reforms like GST, IBC code,OROP, Merging Railway budget with general budget, Liberalisation on FDI also making transparent coal block auction and Labour law reforms also Direct Benefit Transfer to reduce systemic leaks.Thus in his short term the economy which was called as Fragile Five to fast growing economy thanks to fiscal discipline he instilled.
Thus a lawyer, statesman and best finance minister for being Proactive reformer in Finance sector to be remembered by all.
