Rockets and the narrative.
In Indian History during the late 15th century arrival of Gun Powder in the Battle between Bahmani and Vijayanagara Empire.
Thus the awareness on Gun Powder and Salt petre are known amongst Indians.
In the 18th century with the emergence of fast moving Cavalry of Hindavi Swarajya aka Maratha Empire the new weapon for the Gun Powder era and improvisation was sought.
Indians already had Ulka Deepa with reference to Skanda Purana which was lit during Diwali as a guiding light to lead ancestors back to Pitruloka and Swargaloka respectively. Thus the improvisation happened with adding Salt petre and became a weapon of war.
Thus rockets can be used for signalling and surprise attack also as shock troops were well noted.
Here Hindavi Swarajya and Mysore both used that technology known as Bana or Ban. This was noted by the British in their wars with both of them respectively.
Here is the narrative that was set as such one particular icon was known for the innovation to obsolve him of controversy. While the other side that was also Genuinely designing advanced weapons was not given equal attention.
Thus let’s question the narrative.
